Twitter Debuting Stickers That Act Like Hashtags For Photos

In a move to be more like the cool kids over at Snapchat, Twitter today unveiled a new library of stickers that can be added to photos, which can be searched like hashtags so you can make sure you’re doing social media right.

The new sticker sets are Twitter’s way of letting users add a little something to their photos, with rotating sets of stickers that can be resized or rotated before they’re added.

Beyond simply encouraging people to bedazzle everyday photos, the stickers will also provide users with the sense of validation that comes with knowing you’re doing something right: they’re searchable the same way hashtags are. By tapping on a sticker in a photo, users are taken to a search results page that shows how other people are using those stickers.

“After you Tweet a photo with stickers on it, your photo becomes searchable in a new, visual spin on the hashtag,” Twitter said in a blog post. “Tapping on a sticker in a Tweet takes you to a new timeline, where you can see how people all over the world use that sticker in different ways.”

Stickers will be rolling out over the next few weeks for people using iOS and Android, though you’ll also be able to view and click stickers on Twitter.com.
