5 People Injured After SUV Turns CVS Store Into A Drive-In

In yet another incident of a driver creating a drive-thru store where there used to be none, an SUV slammed into a CVS in New York, leveling a glass and brick wall and sending five people to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A Honda SUV rammed into the CVS on Tuesday night, injuring the driver and four people shopping in the store, The Journal News reports, citing a local police official.

It’s too early to determine a cause for the crash, but police think the driver had a “medical condition.”

Because it’s not normal for a car to drive into a store, there was some confusion at first when the car came hurtling through the front wall of the store.

“We thought a display case had fallen, but then the fire alarm went off and people started screaming,” said an employee at the store who was working in the back pharmacy.

Police said though the front wall and entrance of the store suffered mightily, the building is still structurally intact. It remains closed while crews work on fixing the 10-foot wide, 15-foot long hole, News 12 adds (warning: link contains video that autoplays), which will likely take a few days.
